Born in Pietrasanta (Lucca) in 1966, he lives and works between Camaiore and Forte dei Marmi and his works are permanently exhibited at Lazzaro Gallery, via Pascoli 8 - Forte dei Marmi (Lucca). Since 2005 three artworks 80x120cm are in the collection of the Italian Re- public Senate in Palazzo Madama, Rome. In 2007 an artwork by Monteforte “The tree of life”, 80x60cm was donated to the Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI during a public audience in Rome. In October 2010 Domenico Monteforte was awarded the prize “Torre di Castruccio” for the Arts. The motivations were: “For his commitment and for the quality in the art world and for being an example for the new generations”. The prize is awarded every year and it is at its XVIII edition under the High Patronage of the Presidency of the Italian Republic, of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers of Italy, of the Ministry for the Cultural Heritage and Activities of the Region of Tuscany. In 2012 he was awarded the prize for the career at the “Spoleto Two Worlds festival”. In October 2014 he has been on the front cover of ARTE IN magazine. In October 2015 he was invited for an artist-in-residence program at Nanjing University to spend a month in China. He has had access to a personal atelier in which he has created a series of paintings that were then presented in exhibition in various Chinese cities including: Nanjing, Shanghai and Wuxi.In February 2016, in the prestigious Californian Opera House in San Francisco, USA, Monteforte has placed a large canvas of 6x3mt, especially created on their commission. The painting represents over sixty worldwide renowned singers, composers and conductors and has become the “iconic image” of this famous Opera House. In December 2016, in Rome, he was awarded the “Artist of the Year 2016”, along with other important Italian artists. He has several exhibitions in Italy and abroad to his name. The most important Italian art critics took an interest in his work. He has collaborated for many years with Giorgio Mondadori Editore, with whom he made several publications, like monographs on his work and some volumes related to Art and Cuisine, his other great passion. In 2017 he exhibited in Rome, Florence, Anghiari (AR), London, Dubrovnik and Moscow, among others. In the summer of the same year, his 3-meter painting was placed in the foyer of the Verdi Theater in Montecatini Terme. In February 2018 Domenico Monteforte will open a personal exhibit in Berlin.
